Foreign NGO Status in China

JA China is pleased to announce that the organization has been registered in Beijing in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations (NGO) within the Territory of China that came into effect on January 1, 2017.

On September 4, 2017, JA China was granted the Foreign NGO Representative Office status permitted to operate in all the cities in China under the supervision of Beijing Public Security Bureau, with its business supervisory unit, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) as the hosting organization.

Law of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of Activities of Overseas Nongovernmental Organizations within the Territory of China was adopted at the 20th Meeting of the 12th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on 28 April 2016 and came into effect on 1 January 2017. After the law went into effect, JA China proactively worked with all the relevant parties and prepared for the official registration. On 5 September 2017, JA China officially received its registration certificate from the Overseas NGO Management Office of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau and joined the group of 150 + other international NGOs with the same registered status.

The official status would not have been possible without the help from our host organization -- The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, which has rendered tremendous assistance and support to us. JA also would like to thank Research Institute for Charity and Public Welfare, Tsinghua University and other partners for their continuous help.

Since its establishment in 1993, JA China has been dedicated to providing young people with various excellent programs and international exchange opportunities; inspiring and preparing Chinese youth with character and skills to succeed in the global economy. Over the past 20 years, with its networks of corporate volunteers, JA China has enabled cooperation between business and education offering many opportunities for young people to learn about business and economics. By spring 2017, JA has established formal cooperation with over 1,000 schools and universities across China with the number of participating students totaling at 5,588,409. Over 71,393 volunteers and teachers across 35 cities joined the efforts and conducted thousands of hours tutoring and lecturing. JA China would not have been able to be where it is today without their contribution.

In the future, JA China will continue to work with partners from all sectors to serve young people in China, inspiring and preparing them to succeed with skills and characters.
